In this image, we were aiming for the visual bar of a physical object like a stop-motion set with a classic cartoon esthetic. Utilising procedural custom shader development inside of Maya with Arnold render, the project avoided 3d sculpting and image-based textures speeding up production. Procedural custom shaders also allowed for effective iterations. The model was created using a low poly mesh with shader displacement to add detail as seen in the production image below. Starting with a quick concept thumbnail sketch the idea was refined and developed before 3D modelling production began.
